In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which promote a healthy world and sustainable future for us all, Recyclan Global Services Limited and Humanity Nigeria in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Environment are embarking on a 30-Day exercise that will see to the recovery and recycling of 400 metric tons of plastic bottle waste across Lagos State. This exercise is an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Volume of Plastic Bottles Collected for Recycling by a Team’.

This world record attempt is the first global PET recovery attempt of this scale. The previous Guinness World Record Attempt recorded is for a period of 14 days with 56 metric tons recovered.

Scheduled to run from June 1 to 30, 2021, under the theme - ‘Officially amazing’ - the World Record Attempt by Recyclan and Humanity Nigeria’s “Green Lagos” initiative will celebrate the Plastic Recycling Month and earmark the milestone achievements of Lagos State in advancing a clean environment for all.

Based Organizations for the 30-day PET recovery attempt in Lagos State.

According to the Group CEO of Recyclan Global Services Limited, Chimebuka Okwuokenye, “it is our collective responsibility to ensure our environment is protected

from pollution. Recyclan is committed to working with all stakeholders towards achieving a pollution-free planet; one that promotes the health and well-being of our people and the environment.

We also celebrate and recognize the successful environmental policies of the government of Lagos State that continuously position the State as environmentally friendly.”

With the support of Voluntary Organizations, Corporate Bodies, and in partnership with the Institutions, the attempt at recovering 400 tonnes of plastic waste would help to strengthen Lagos State’s Environmental Policies and take the ‘Cleaner Lagos Initiative’ to more communities thus making the dream of a ‘Green Lagos’ a possibility.

Bizzybody NG will be partnering on the events solutions modules of this 30-day exercise, during which a variety of activities aimed at children, youths, corporate bodies, volunteer organizations, and Lagos State residents will be showcased.
