“Last year's attempt opened our eyes to the scale of plastic garbage in our environment, particularly in local governments in Lagos state,” Femi George, President of Humanity Nigeria, said at a recent news conference in Lagos to educate the public about the one-month event. More people need to understand the significance of environmental preservation. We are thrilled to be working with Recyclan Global Limited. It will coincide this year with the First World Plastic Recycling Month, which will be organized for the first time in history. We're taking advantage of this opportunity to bring Nigeria's plight to the attention of the United Nations, and it should be noted that Nigeria hosted the first World Plastic Recycling Month.” Femi states.

Femi also revealed how many tonnes the crew lifted in their attempt to break the Guinness World Record last year. He stated that despite significant logistical challenges, the team was able to complete 38.73 tons on the first attempt in five days and that this 2021. This will be the second attempt to set a new world environmental record of 200 tons in 30 days.

Recyclan and Humanity's attempt at a world record From June 1 to 30, 2021, Nigeria's "Green Lagos" program will commemorate plastic recycling month and highlight Lagos State's milestone achievements in advancing a clean environment for all under the theme "Officially amazing."

The project directors for the Guinness World Record Attempt, Somi Oguah and Olafemi George, will lead 'Team Lagos,' a group of young volunteers from various community-based organizations, in a 30-day PET recovery attempt in Lagos State.

“We believe that a worthwhile relationship will enable them to do this,” said Harold Okonoboh, CEO Africa Recyclan Global Limited, of Recyclan's collaboration with Humanity Nigeria.
