AmuwoGames 2025 burst into life this weekend in Lagos with over 600 athletes competing across 16 thrilling sports and an expected 50,000 residents joining in the month-long fun. The fifth edition of the biennial festival is themed “Cancel Scam Culture,” celebrating discipline, integrity, and the true spirit of community sports.
The opening ceremony was filled with energy, music, and cheers as the games officially kicked off. The crowd roared through the first football match and stayed charged as the second game of the day kicked off soon after, setting the tone for what promises to be an action-packed festival.
In her brief remarks, Hon. Stella Osafile, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Amuwo Odofin I, urged everyone to “celebrate dignity and legitimacy,” reminding the youth that true greatness is built on honesty.
The official football draws were also revealed: G.R.A. Rhinos vs Festac Bulls, Mile 2 Hawks vs Mile 2 Lions, Festac Sharks vs Extension Dolphins, and Festac Elephants vs Festac Unicorns, four fierce matchups that already have fans buzzing.

Convener Seun Ayeni described AmuwoGames as a platform for building character and discovering talent, while the Lagos State Sports Commission, represented by Nunayon Travih, reaffirmed its support for grassroots development.

Running through November 23, AmuwoGames 2025 promises not just sports, but unity, excitement, and a reminder that real success is legit success.
